Online Safety and Platform Regulation

AWO has a track record in supporting the development and implementation of Online Safety and Platform Regulation such as the UK’s Online Safety Act (OSA), the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), the EU’s regulation on political advertising (TTPA) and the EU’s Media Freedom Act (MFA).

We have provided national, regional and international regulators with independent research and analysis to inform ongoing enforcement discussions and actions, including for the European Commission, the Fundamental Rights Agency and the previous EU-US Trade and Technology Council.

We are regularly commissioned by civil society and philanthropic organisations to offer independent, evidence-based analysis of online safety issues, including work on child safety and AI for the child rights coalition ECPAT and the NSPCC, the UK’s leading child safety charity.

We have extensive experience in providing advice on how to enable access to data from online platform providers for research purposes in line with the EU GDPR and Digital Services Act.

We act as legal representatives for providers of intermediary services for the purposes of Article 13 of the Digital Services Act.

AWO is an accredited assessor of the Global Network Initiative.
