We specialise in the intersection of AI, data protection, and digital regulation. Our team includes recognised experts who sit on steering committees for academic conferences and international organisations. In 2024, we were named one of Legal500’s ‘Firms to Watch’ in Artificial Intelligence.
Clients often turn to us for cutting-edge analysis on AI legislation and policy frameworks, including the EU AI Act, the EU Digital Services Act, and the UK’s Online Safety Act. We provide strategic and compliance-focused advice to companies, civil society organisations, public bodies, regulators, and philanthropic foundations. In partnership with technical experts, we also conduct risk assessments of algorithm-enabled technologies. Past projects include evaluating predictive policing systems for Amnesty International, reviewing child safety technologies for ECPAT, and mapping the online safety technology landscape for UK regulators.
We authored the NSPCC’s Generative AI Risk Framework, contributing to a timely conversation on child safety and AI. We also developed the Trades Union Congress’ Generative AI Toolkit, designed for use by the 5.5 million working people represented by the TUC’s members. In addition, we advise unions on a range of legal and policy matters—including algorithmic management, data protection, Generative AI, and copyright.
We regularly produce applied research supported by organisations such as the Mozilla Foundation, the Ada Lovelace Institute, and the Digital Infrastructure Insights Fund. Recent work has focused on open-source AI, researcher access to closed foundation models, independent audit and assurance ecosystems.
We also support interdisciplinary and creative collaborations. For example, we advised the Serpentine Gallery on Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst’s AI-powered interactive spatial audio installation, The Call.
Finally, we publish a monthly newsletter that connects the algorithm governance community—featuring technical and regulatory updates, job postings, new publications, and events.
